Musical Theatre (5-8yrs)

Come join us for an adventure in acting, singing, dancing and artwork.  Popular children's stories are the leaping-off point of our Musical Theatre workshops, and culminate with a fabulous show for our families on the last day.  Classes involve theatre games, story exploration, working off of a custom-written script, simple stage blocking,  learning songs and simple choreography, and creating fun art projects for our sets. Each show has original music written by Christy Zarlengo and Marianne Ryan.

Winter 2018 Show: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day s an ALA Notable Children's Book written by Judith Viorst and illustrated by Ray Cruz.  From the moment Alexander wakes up things just do not go his way. When he gets out of bed, he trips on his skateboard and drops his sweater into the sink while the water was running. At breakfast, his brothers, Anthony and Nick, reach into their cereal boxes and find amazing prizes, while he ends up with just cereal. It ends with his mom's assurance that everybody has bad days.

"Our 5 year old daughter loves going to her Musical Theater class, and looks forward to it all week. The combination of singing, stories, and artwork keeps her engaged in activities she really enjoys. She loves to perform, and the class manages to both make it an exciting event and keep it low-key so it's not overwhelming." - Karen
